ABOUT ME

My name is Gerardo Flores, although everyone knows me by Lalo, a nickname I gave myself because my teachers struggled to roll their r's. My base of operations is in Centennial, but I don't mind traveling because I get to see every corner of our beautiful state of Colorado.

Music is my passion bordering on obsession. What distinguishes me from other DJs is that I know about music theory from playing live music. My dad was in a regional Mexican music band and taught me some chords on a guitar, and then I also picked up the electric bass and the alto sax. I joined my dad's band and in between sets at nightclubs, quinceañeras and weddings, I would play music from a pair of CD decks. Using my knowledge of music, I was able to blend songs together that had similar keys and beats per minute in order to create a continuous flow of music and keep the dance-floor packed. Nowadays, I use a computer and I can play nearly any request within a matter of seconds.
During my years with the band, I learned about sound production. I learned how to properly set up a microphone without having it make that horrible feedback noise, how to use a mixer to blend instruments, and how to deal with other acoustic issues. I pride myself on owning high quality equipment that sounds great.
I picked up my EMCEE skills from years of being a public high school Spanish teacher. I received my Master's degree in Spanish Teaching from the University of Northern Colorado in 2016. It was during my days in undergrad that I met the love of my life, who sometimes assists me in events as a day of wedding coordinator.
I love being the DJ at all types of events, but by far, my favorite events are weddings, I enjoy being a part of one of the best days of people's lives. I like that I get to enhance the
night and provide a soundtrack to their lives.
As a DJ , I stay up to date with many different genres of music and play what the audience likes to hear, but in my personal time, I am partial to oldies. My favorite band is The Beatles. The influence they had on music is undeniable.
