3/18/2018

DJ Lalo had a fun time assisting guests at his photo booth in Downtown Pueblo Colorado. Even though he is based out of Centennial Colorado, near Aurora, he can travel to the four corners of Colorado including to Greeley, Fort Collings, Estes Park, Denver and Colorado Springs The quinceañera selected the brand new golden sequin backdrop for her pictures.

The guests had a great time with the quality selection of props and fun signs in English and Spanish. DJ Lalo Flores was able to help all the guests since he is bilingual

Here are some of the highlights from the XV. The rest can be found on the facebook page by going to facebook.com/djlaloflores and clicking on Photos and selecting the album.

DENVER QUINCEAÑERA EXPO

2/10/2018

DJ LALO FLORES had the opportunity to meet a lot of future quinceañera ladies at the Quinceañera Magazine Expo in Denver at the Crown Plaza Convention Center.

The soon to be birthday girls were able to pose in the photo booth and learn more about the package deals that DJ LALO FLORES has to offer.

It was great to see the families of the quince girl laughing and having a good time posing with the props and signs. The signs made have popular funny sayings on them in Spanish and English that relate to this latin celebration, It was nice to give them a sample of how much they could have at their celebration when they book. At this
quinceañera the guests posed in front of our silver sequin backdrop.

Check out the fun gallery of photos below.

Triple the Fun at this quinceañera

HAZ CLIC PARA LEER EN ESPAÑOL
Picture
DJ Lalo Flores performed at this quinceañera that took place at the Castlewood Event Center in Englewood, Colorado. What really set it apart from other quinces, is that there were 3 birthday girls instead of one.  The young ladies had a fantastic, choreographed waltz with a special remix that DJ Lalo Flores created (which you can see in the video below) .  In addition, DJ Lalo Flores played 3 different songs for the father of the quinceañeras to share a special moment with each one of his daughters. Although it is traditional for the father to change the birthday girls shoes, the mother of the quinceañeras took over that duty because the dad though he would be too emotional to do it. After a delicious dinner, DJ Lalo encouraged the guests to join the dance floor. It helps that DJ Lalo is bilingual and can make announcements in English and Spanish. He played top 40 hits in English and a variety of latin dance songs in Spanish too. There were salsas, bachatas, merengues, and of course, cumbias. DJ Lalo also took requests and played mariachi songs and norteño music for the older guests who appreciate great music. Of course, everyone enjoyed classics like El Payaso de Rodeo and The Cupid Shuffle. The dance floor was full the whole night and it was three times the fun . Don't forget to hire DJ Lalo Flores for your next XV quinceanera celebration in Denver, Greeley , Fort Collins, Aurora and everywhere in between.

How many sound setups do I need for my wedding?

8/13/2015

DJ Lalo Flores is here to help you answer the question on how many sound setups you will need for your wedding.  For 95% of weddings, I bring at least one sound setup.  This consists of 2 JBL 515XT powered speakers, a wireless microphone and a mixer where you can also plug in an IPOD, guitar or microphone if you were to have a special singer during the wedding ( duos, trios and bands should bring their own equipment if they are to play during the wedding). My sound system is loud enough for up to 200 guests.  If all your events ( ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing) are all taking place in the exact same location of the venue, and I don't need to move my setup, then you will only need one setup for your entire event.

Lets look at some examples: The following wedding needed a total of 3 sound setups: one for the ceremony , one for the cocktail hour and one for the reception.

Ceremony Setup

At this particular wedding, the ceremony took place at the top of a mountain top. There was no electrical outlet to plug into within 25 feet, but the venue had a power generator that I was able to use. When we sign a contract, there is a stipulation that there be an electrical outlet within 25 feet that I can use since I don't own a generator (although we could always work something out, like bringing a different battery powered speaker for smaller ceremonies). Most of the time though, venues have outlets readily available. For ceremonies, I bring 1 JBL 515XT speaker, a computer to play the music,  and a wireless microphone on a stand that the officiant and bride and groom can use  so the guests can hear the vows.

The microphone is set up so the officiant, bride and groom can be heard clearly by your guests.

The speaker is placed away from the microphone so it doesn't interfere with pictures coming down the aisle.

Cocktail hour setup

PictureGuests enjoy hors d'oeuvres and drinks during cocktail hour in an outdoor patio.
The second part of the wedding took place at a outdoor patio near a river. The venue had an electrical outlet very close by, During cocktail hour I play a nice blend of classic and modern songs at a comfortable volume so that guests can mingle and enjoy the hors d'oeuvres and drinks.  I can also play a set made up of songs of your choosing that have a special meaning to you. I provide a planning form to help you select the playlist.

Reception setup

The third part of the wedding took place indoors. The venue had many electrical outlets near my setup. The advantage of multiple setups, is that it helps with the flow of events; I made an announcement of the microphone to start heading in and there was already music playing indoors. The guests were excited for the bride and groom's grand entrance.  The only small issue is that dinner was to take place in the dining hall and not on the main floor. This was fixed by me turning the speaker a few degrees and moving the speaker as far as I could from my mixer, and the venue opening the doors to let the sound in. Had the dinner been  further away, or separated by a wall , then I would have had to bring a 4th sound setup, but I always try to make it work by moving equipment as much as possible to save you money.  After introductions, the guests had dinner, toast were made, and then everyone moved to  the dance floor to witness the awesome first dance, father-daughter dance, mother-son dance , bouquet and garter toss and cake cutting. After that everyone filled the dance floor and had a great night dancing.

The speaker on the right side of the photo is angled and off the stage, providing music for the dinner taking place in a nearby room. The doors are open, allowing the sound to come through

The best man gives a speech with a wireless microphone, and guests can clearly hear him with the speaker from the picture above.

Contact me to discuss your audio needs

As you can see from the pictures above, three different areas needed sound. Contact DJ Lalo Flores and  go over the floor plans to see how many setups you need for your wedding.  95% of weddings need sound in at least one location. If I am able to plug into the P.A. system and not use my own speakers, I can offer you a discount off the total price. Keep in mind that many venue's PA systems were not designed to play music at loud levels that guests enjoy dancing to ( they are designed more for speeches and light background music). In addition, some venues charge the couple  more money to use to use the house sound system. Save money and let me take care of your audio needs. You also get some free lighting when you book your date.

So much music, so little time

1/31/2015

There is now more music available than a person could hear in their lifetime. Sadly, the radio stations only play maybe 1% of it and 99% of great music goes unheard...

Sometimes, it can be hard to pick which songs to listen to. My awesome wife and EMCEE got me a book for my birthday called 1000 Songs to Hear Before You Die. I enjoy learning about the story behind the songs and about the artists themselves. For example , did you know that "Save the last dance for me" was inspired by the wedding of famous composer Doc Pomus? Pomus had polio and was in a wheelchair during his wedding to a Broadway dancer. The lyrics then become like a page from his autobiography:

Oh, I know that the music's fine
Like sparkling wine go and have your fun
Laugh and sing but while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone

But don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin', save the last dance for me

If you like Save the Last Dance for Me, you could use it for your last dance at your wedding when you hire DJ LALO FLORES. You can also pick from this Spotify list of  other great songs for the last dance , or literally any  song that is special to you and your partner.

What songs do you think that I should add to the list? Leave me a comment below.
